This is an exciting and long post about our amazing backyard makeover! I'm so excited to finally have beautiful green grass thanks to my really awesome husband! I have to say he really does know what he is doing. You would think he does this for a living or something! We have put in a lot of time these last 3 months in between vacations, bad weather, putting on a roof and hanging out with Ella.
Let's see how it looked when we started in May
The grass was horrible, the grade was bumpy, and the plants were mostly dead or in a bad location.
We started with clearing out the blackberry bushes behind
our fence and cleaning out the scary wood
and trash pile behind the shed.
Can you say Yuck!
We said goodbye to the grass with the help of some roundup and
this excavator!
Ella and I even got in on the action
Next Mark put in our fabulous new irrigation system,
then added 4 inches of super special sandy soil to make our shady yard drain.
Two weeks ago we finally seeded!
One week later
1 1/2 weeks later
In the last two weeks we also
weeded, added compost, tilled, pulled out 8 yards of dirt, planted about 45 plants and barked...
all with this helper!
Who doesn't wear a dress with a tutu and play in the dirt?
make that, eat dirt!
This was today, we still have several project left, but I'm sooooo excited about this yard!
We finally have grass for Elle to run around in...Love it!
Love freshly mowed grass!
